DESCRIPTION:

This project made changes to the existing runway, taxiways, lighting, and signage, to meet current FAA standards. The east end of the runway was raised approximately 5 feet, levelling the longitudinal gradient. A large portion of the runway was demolished and then the entire runway was repaved, converting the surface to a crown configuration. Several new taxiways were built, while others were realigned. The existing lighting and signage systems were replaced with updated LED systems. New REILs and PAPIs were installed, as well as new constant current regulators.

 

Work includes: over 115,000 CY of Excavation, Import of approx. 70,000 CY of Gravel Products, over 36,000 Tons of Asphalt Paving, 11,000 LF of Perforated Underdrain Pipe, over 4,000 LF of Storm Pipe, 30,000 LF of Trenching, and new Electrical Systems including over 288 Lights, 4 new Constant Current Regulators, 30 new Signs, 4 new PAPIs, and 2 new REILs.

 

This work was completed and flight-checked in 14 weeks, during the summer of 2012.
